LAEF commits to save small class sizes

Los Altos Education Foundation commited to a record $2.35 million grant fund for 2010-11 school year. Parent support is needed to make this goal.

The LAEF 2010-11 grant will continue to support programs like hands-on science, art, music and PE. The big increase in funding will cover things parents have indicated are most important to them:
• Prevent increases in class sizes, keeping them at current levels at all seven elementary schools (eliminating the need for multi-grade combination classes)
• Maintain manageable class sizes and a broad selection of electives at both junior highs
• Keep library hours at current levels

Don't wait until Back to School to make your 2010-11 tax-deductible LAEF contribution. To reach LAEF's larger 2010-11 fundraising goal, they are seeking a one-time donation of $1,000 per child or $100 per month per child. Contribute now by clicking here!.

When we decide what's important for our children and we're willing to fund it, we can partner with our school district to make it a reality. This is local control in action. The plan and the price tag have been set. Now it's up to the Trustees to approve the plan and the district to implement it. And it's up to us to pay for it.
