Message from the Principal

Dear Covington Families,

Thank you for a wonderful week!

Tuesday evening was LAEF's Annual Fall Fundraiser. Thank you to everyone who has donated to support our school programs and to the volunteers who helped contact families and share information about the important work LAEF does to support our LASD and Covington students!

On Wednesday, we held a special assembly with a magician to celebrate all of our students for the success of our Walkathon. The students were delighted, and it was a fun way to recognize everyone’s hard work.

At our Friday assembly this morning, we continued the celebration by honoring the classes in each grade level with the highest number of laps, as well as the top walkers from each grade level. Congratulations to all of our winners!
We also reminded students that daylight saving time ends this weekend. Please remember to change your clocks so that everyone arrives at the right time on Monday!

Looking ahead, next Friday is the first Friday of the month, which means it’s a Walk or Wheel Day. Our coyote mascot will also be joining us at next week’s Friday assembly, so be sure to join in the fun.

Today, campus is buzzing with excited energy as students prepare for class celebrations and the Halloween parade. I can’t wait to see all of their costumes!

I wish everyone a fun and safe Halloween.
Illuminate LASD: What happens when students lead their own learning and dive deeply into a question that matters to them, and share their voices in powerful ways? Illuminate LASD invites students to become experts, innovators, and change-makers. Whether it’s researching a topic they’re passionate about, solving a problem that inspires them, or creating something to make an impact, students will share the artifacts that highlight the learning process. From TK to 8th grade, Illuminate LASD invites students to share what they now know and can do by sharing the process and products of their learning on Friday, February 26th from 4:00PM - 7:00PM.
Register today to participate and submit an Intent Form by November 18th by visiting https://tinyurl.com/illuminateLASD. We invite you to share in this experience that connects student curiosity, creativity, and agency!
